Gorgeous Oak Desk

I love this desk!  We found it at Goodwill for $15.  I think we bought it with the intent to sell it but then I started to work on it and didn't want to let it go.

The top was covered in marker, pencil, and crayon drawings. The hard wood was so difficult to sand but it was well worth it.  The stain and color is a custom mix.  I had a fun time playing with the combos to get what I really wanted.

I applied three different stains.  First: English Chestnut all over, Second: Dark Walnut thin layer all over, Third: Ebony in the larger pattern wood grain areas.

The color is a mix of custom Sherwin Williams Regatta and Westinghouse White.  I played around with a few added colors that made it appear a little more green  but in the end I mixed the regatta and white to get the color I liked best.

The top is sealed with wipe-on Poly and the drawers are sealed with a triple thick glaze.

About Me

My photo
Growing up we never realized that we could make or change our furniture. Now that we are old and grown..ha..we realized that you can do anything you want to do. We like finding an old battered piece of furniture and seeing what we can make of it. We find joy in the journey and love seeing our pieces go to someone who loves them. Our house is slowly changing to whatever we want it to be and we are loving seeing the transformation.
