The Green Goddess
I really love how this dresser turned out. It is our new living room dresser. I love having a dresser rather than an entertainment center. It just makes the space more comfortable and gives us plenty of room to store toys, movies, and games. When we bought this is was half painted with primer and no where near done. So, me and the old sander had some fun and she turned out fantastic.

Blue Beauty
I had originally bought this dresser because it matched our dream dresser. We were thinking we would like this more intense color in our room but once it was finished we changed our minds. It would definitely be possible to repaint it and all that hallabaloo but I just don't have it in me to redo a piece I love regardless if it works or not.
The color is Sherwin Williams Gulf Stream. The top is stained with Minwax Jacobean. The piece is finished with Minwax Wipe-On Poly in Satin.

Gray Gray Gray
I was reading about a fabric weave painting technique and thought this would be the best dresser to test it on. I had recently obtained a few oops paints in different shades of gray so that is what I used. To do the fabric weave technique pour small amount of three colors side by side, dip your brush in all three, and brush back and forth to accomplish the weave. I really like how it turned out and it has nice deep drawers which is my favorite type of dresser.
The color is a mix of three grey oops paints from Home Depot. I made them into chalk paint and painted away in a fabric weave technique. The top is stained with Minwax Ebony and everything is finished with Minwax Wipe-On Poly in Satin.
Beach Boy Dresser
This dresser had some obvious flaws when I started. Most of the drawers were chipped and the overall appearance was riddled with nicks and scratches. It cleaned up well with a bit of sanding but the chips weren't magically going to repair themselves, so I thought I'd work with that and make it more of a beach theme dresser. The one blue knob was not intended but brought about by lack of time. We were actually selling Zachie's old dresser when my husband spoke up and said we have other dressers. This one sold. It wasn't completed so I had a day to finish it up. One knob was missing and this is all I could find in a short amount of time. I think I would have liked the top drawers to be bordered as well but this is what was requested.
The color is Sherwin Williams Regatta, although I had it changed a bit so it is a variation on Regatta. The light blue is Behr Clam Water. The top is stained with Minwax English Chestnut. Everything is sealed with Minwax Wipe-On Poly.

The Gathering Place
We received this table for free. It was from a family with a few kids and you could definitely tell. There was stuck on food and deep scratches. I knew I would one day refinish it, so I used it as a place to paint furniture. That resulted in many different colors splattered across the surface. It was definitely time to fix all that.
The frame in the background will one day house a chalk board for our weekly menu but for now I have ignored it.
Each color is a Rustoleum Painter's Touch in:
Satin Eden
Gloss Navy Blue
Satin Ivory Silk
Satin Aqua
The wood is stained with Minwax Dark Walnut.
Everything is finished with Minwax Wipe-On Poly.

About Me
- The Smiths
- Growing up we never realized that we could make or change our furniture. Now that we are old and grown..ha..we realized that you can do anything you want to do. We like finding an old battered piece of furniture and seeing what we can make of it. We find joy in the journey and love seeing our pieces go to someone who loves them. Our house is slowly changing to whatever we want it to be and we are loving seeing the transformation.
